Stall Holders’ Agreement Form

Holmfirth Forward is a not-for-profit private Company that aims to develop the social, economic and heritage life of Holmfirth, in this case ensuring the continuing presence of a Market.

School Street is a temporary venue until the new permanent site is available, replacing the Indoor Market. Planning permission is in process … Road closures are also obtained, with conditions of maintaining pedestrian access through the site to the river bridge.

All stallholders are asked to agree to the following:

MARKET DAYS OPERATION

1. The market is permitted to trade only from 8am to 4pm on Thursdays and Saturdays, with set-up and tidy up either side.

2. Traders are permitted to unload and then reload at the end of trading on School Street, but must then park elsewhere, probably in the adjacent Crown Bottom Car Park.

THE SITE

3. The site extends from the road to the Methodist Church to the edge of the river pathway. Care must be taken to ensure that no hindrance is given to access to the Church, and a barrier to the site must be formed at this junction.

4. Stalls should be set-up along the walls to the gardens, with space in front for customers and behind for stallholders.

5. It is essential to have stalls on the road surface of School Street only, with no access to the grass over the wall owned by the Methodist Church. No damage may be done to the surface of School Street.

6. Clear access must be maintained for pedestrians through the site to the river bridge.

7. The Road Closures ensure that the double yellow line No Parking is suspended during the operating of the Market, but this extends to traders only and no-one else must be allowed to park.

WASTE MATERIAL

8. It is essential that all waste material is removed by stallholders from the site immediately at the end of each trading session, both for health and safety reasons and to discourage fly-tipping. There is no plan to provide on-site waste storage or removal.

STORAGE

9. Holmfirth Forward’s market stalls and associated equipment are stored in the garage at the bottom of School Street.

REGISTRATION, BOOKING & COSTS

10. This Agreement is the way to register for a stall at the Market, and stallholders must keep Holmfirth Forward updated on contact details via info@holmfirthcommunitymarket.org.uk, or we may not be responsible for lack of information.

11. Stallholders must book and pay for stalls through the online booking system. By making a booking, the stallholder agrees to comply with the terms of this agreement.

12. There will be no refund of payment should the trader cease trading during a day for any reason.

CLOSURE OF THE MARKET

13. Should the Market have good reason not to operate on certain days, Holmfirth Forward will do all in its power to give adequate notice in advance and will not incur liability.

14. When the new Market site is available and a moving date is known, we will give advance notice about ceasing trading at School Street. This will be to comply with Planning and Highways legislation.

NO CLASHING

15. Should new traders appear, they will be permitted only minor clashes of goods with existing traders.

NUMBERS OF STALLS, LIMITATIONS, AND CONSIDERATION

16. The site at School Street is limited to 6 stalls and more may be accommodated should space allow.

17. Traders are asked to bear this limited space and other traders in mind when setting out stalls and conducting business.

18. We expect traders to bear in mind the limitations of the temporary nature of the site and the ability to hold a market at all, and to do all they can to ensure order and good running of the market.
